In a battle of supremacy, members of Black Axxe Confraternity (Aye) and the Eiye Confraternity, in the Ikorodu area of Lagos, have lost, at least, five members between them.
Hostilities between the two groups resumed when, according to reports, a suspected member of the Eiye Confraternity, Gbendu, was killed, in the Sago area. The Eiye confraternity retaliated, last week, by killing a vulcanizer at Ota-Ona, who was suspected to be a member of the Black Axxe confraternity.
Over the weekend, the two groups launched reprisal attacks on each other. One of such attacks was carried out at a mini bar, last Saturday, in the Lucky Fibre area, as two members of the Black Axxe were killed. Their hands were also cut off and taken away by their killers. The gory sight of the killings and the severed hands, has left residents of the area in shock and fear. The police took the corpses away, for identification and more investigation.
Yesterday (Monday), another member of the Eiye Confraternity was also killed, in the early hours of the morning, in retaliation.
Residents and observers have braced themselves up for more of these attacks, over the next few days and weeks.
