A building ‘partially collapsed’ in Lagos Island, during the demolition of another building.

Earlier today, the news of another building collapse, at No 57, Egerton Square, Oke Arin in Lagos Island, went viral. This is coming barely a week after the building collapse reported at Ita Faaji, Lagos Island, where many young children and adults died, and many others were injured, after being trapped in the rubble for hours.

What happened today, then? There was an ongoing demolition exercise on Egerton street, by the Lagos State Building Control Agency, and a part of the house next to the one being demolished fell apart.

Four people have been rescued, so far, by firefighters that were on ground, and they have been taken to the hospital for medical treatment.

The Director of the Lagos State Fire Service, Rasaki Musbau said, “Our men at the site of the collapsed building reported that it was a partial collapse. And they have been able to evacuate four persons alive from the rubble. The victims have also been taken to the hospital for treatment”
